Big changes are coming to Mercedes! The team has officially announced that Andrea Kimi Antonelli will step into Lewis Hamilton’s seat when the seven-time world champion leaves for Ferrari in 2025.

Earlier this year, Hamilton surprised fans by revealing his plan to join Ferrari, leaving Mercedes to plan for a future without their star driver.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff shared the exciting news, saying they’ve chosen Antonelli to bring fresh energy to the team while blending in with experienced drivers like George Russell.

“Our 2025 lineup will be a mix of young talent and seasoned pros,” said Wolff. “It’s a strong message about the faith we have in the young drivers we’ve developed.”

Antonelli, thrilled by the opportunity, expressed his excitement: “Becoming a Mercedes driver in 2025 is a dream come true! I’ve always wanted to race in Formula 1, and now that I’m here, I’m ready to make the most of it.”

At just 18 years old, Antonelli is already making waves. The Italian prodigy from Bologna joined Mercedes in 2019 after dominating the Karting scene. Many believe he’s destined for greatness.

But Mercedes isn’t stopping there. The team still has its eye on Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, hoping to bring him on board in 2026.
