Rwandan artist Laika, who is currently based in Uganda, is gearing up for the release of her debut EP, It Was All a Dream, which features some of Uganda’s biggest music stars.

The EP, which Laika is set to unveil, will include six tracks: ‘Ontabula’ featuring Fik Fameica, ‘Nze Oyo’ with Vinka, and other tracks titled Santorini, Belle, Believer, and Egonza.

This EP has been produced by prominent Ugandan and East African producers, including Nessim, known for four tracks, and Artin on the Beat, who contributed two tracks.

On social media, Laika shared her excitement, saying, “For four years, I dreamt of sharing a gift like this with the world. Today, my dreams are becoming reality as I’m about to release my first EP. What were dreams for four years are now coming true.”

Laika is expected to debut the EP to her fans in Kampala on August 25, 2024.

At 27, Umuhoza Laika has been making waves in the music scene for the past four years. She is known for hits such as Love Story, Netwalira, Overdose, Your Body, You Single, My Type, and her recent release Nzuuno.

Laika has spent little time in Rwanda, as her family is spread across various East African countries. She has lived in Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania before moving to the United States, where she completed her studies in management.

Known professionally as Laika, she resides in Uganda, where she began her music career after graduating from the U.S. She comes from a musical family, with connections to Alpha Rwirangira and her cousin AY, a well-known rapper from Tanzania.
